Cousins Video

We just found this video of the kids at Easter, and cracks me up every time I watch it.  You see all the personalities...Rosalie leads the way, Emily's responses are always on a 5 second delay, Daniel is sort of chilling off to the side and Adara does her trademark leg kick.

Swings

Both of my daughters would swing all day long.  :)

Adara's first time on a swing!  She was totally relaxed & smiley.

Emily has just begun to love going "WAY up high". She usually swings in a big girl swing, but since this playground has two bucket swings, she has been excited to swing with Adara.

Adara at Six Months

Adara had her six month well check today, and she's at 27 1/3" (94%) and 17lb13oz (81%).
(Or about 50% weight for length.)

She's nice & healthy, and still as content as ever.  She's rolling over (still gets stuck on her arm going back to front), and getting close to sitting up on her own, but her main activity is grabbing anything in reach of those busy little hands.  She has two teeth and has started solids, though she isn't terribly interested.  I always try to feed her right after she's nursed (so she won't take in less milk) but maybe she's just too full then.  We're also "encouraging" her to fully give up the middle of the night feeding.  [Encouraging = moving her out to the bassinet in the living room and letting her be as noisy as she needs to getting back to sleep.  She doesn't seem to cry for too long, maybe 30 minutes?  I fell asleep.  And other things that never happened with the 1st baby! ;) ]

We tried to get her 6 month photo with Emily and Rosalie showing 6 fingers... needless to say, that was a little too much for a group shot of hyper children as we were trying to get out the door to church on Easter.  Oh well!  Here is Adara  at 6 months old with her sister and cousins.

Stream

We will really miss the access to the outdoors we have at this house.  I can't imagine we'll live anywhere quite like it again.  One of Alasdair & Emily's favorite things is to walk across the field and into the woods to this stream.   (Thanks to Becky for the photos.)

Singing in the morning

This morning I went into the girls room while they were both still in their beds.  While I fed Adara, Emily groggily sang her this lullaby:

Rockabye baby Adara on the tree top
when the wind blows the cradle will fall
and Emily big sister will catch you, cradle and all.

(I always change the words at the end of that song, since like so many kids nursery rhymes, it's kind of sad otherwise!)
